Anna Zalewska Calls for Transparency in the Use of Climate Funds

During the evening debate at the mini-plenary session of the European Parliament in Brussels, a discussion took place regarding the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29), which is being held in Baku from November 11–22. PiS MEP Anna Zalewska took part in the discussion.

Anna Zalewska pointed out that many key political figures will not be attending the climate summit in Baku. She noted that Commissioner von der Leyen, the German chancellor, the French president, as well as President Biden and leaders from Brazil, India, and China will not be present. She stated that they would be absent because Europe “is no longer seen as the top performer.” She also pointed to Draghi’s report, which clearly indicates that the EU’s overly aggressive ambitions have resulted in a loss of competitiveness. “EU representatives will attend the climate summit to ask for additional funds for measures they want to impose on the entire world, without being held accountable to Europeans or the rest of the world,” commented the MEP. She also called for transparency in these efforts. “The EU should show how it spends this money, who benefits from it, and what results it produces, the Polish politician urged.
