Beata Kempa in a debate on the need for urgent action to improve security and resilience in Europe

In Strasbourg, during a debate on the assessment of climate-related risks in the EU and the need for urgent action to improve safety and resilience in Europe, ECR MEP Beata Kempa spoke.

The Polish MEP stated: “We all want to breathe clean air, we want to live in a clean environment, we want affordable energy—and there is no doubt about that. But the goals—how to achieve them, what path to take—that is a matter for extensive discussion.”

Beata Kempa noted that regarding global warming, even if all the set targets were met within a year, “we won’t be able to stop this phenomenon.” “If today, in the midst of the war in Ukraine, people are talking about low-carbon armies in Europe, then I ask: how are we supposed to defeat the smoke-belching Russian army with electric carts—something that will be completely ineffective? Wake up, Europe!” – she appealed, reminding her audience that even Frans Timmermans, who had set these ambitious goals, “went today to save his own political group, because his approval ratings are falling precisely due to an overly ambitious climate policy.” As she stated, the reason is the excessive burden on Europeans’ wallets. “You don’t have the funds for this, she added.
