Dominik Tarczyński on the Rule of Law and Media Freedom

Dominik Tarczyński on the Rule of Law and Media Freedom

On the third day of the European Parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg, a debate took place on the rule of law and media freedom in Greece. PiS MEP Dominik Tarczyński spoke during the debate.

Addressing Commissioner Reynders, Dominik Tarczyński noted that this was yet another debate on the rule of law in Greece, but that there had never been a debate on the rule of law in Germany. He added that there had been no such debate in the European Parliament eight years ago when Donald Tusk was prime minister of Poland, and that now, since he recently became prime minister again, this issue is also being overlooked, despite all the grounds for addressing it. The Polish politician listed what had happened during Donald Tusk’s first 30 days in office in Poland: “a nighttime raid on state-owned media by a private security firm, a raid on the prosecutor’s office, and political prisoners.” He explained that two members of parliament had been arrested and are currently on a hunger strike. “Commissioner, Donald Tusk is your ‘golden boy,’ he is the leftists’ ‘golden boy,’ and you will be held accountable if anyone dies in Poland,” the MEP commented. “The European elections are coming soon, and God willing, the European nations will sweep you off the political stage and make Poland and Europe great again,” he concluded.
