Jadwiga Wiśniewska: "Let's not allow LGBT ideology to destroy women's sports"

During a plenary session of the European Parliament, a debate was held on the role of EU policies in shaping the European model of sport. PiS MEP Jadwiga Wiśniewska spoke during the debate.

In the debate, Jadwiga Wiśniewska raised an issue that remains a taboo subject. She pointed out that female athletes are forced to compete against people who have undergone gender reassignment, even though the physiological advantage in strength and physique is obvious. “This undermines the very purpose of the women’s category. It is killing women’s sports, the MEP warned.

The Polish politician cited data from a 2024 UN report indicating that in recent years alone, more than 600 female athletes have lost 890 medals across 29 sports as a result of competing against trans men. “So how can we talk about equal opportunities and fair competition?” she asked in this context. Wiśniewska noted that this issue had been completely overlooked in the report presented. She also expressed support for the position of the UN Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women, who calls on states to stop allowing “men who identify as women” to compete against women and girls in sports competitions.

“Sport is a form of competition that must be based on equal and uniform rules. Let’s not allow LGBT ideology to destroy women’s sports,” she said, calling for respect for the principles of fair play and equality in sports.
