During a plenary session of the European Parliament, MEP Jadwiga Wiśniewska spoke in a debate titled “The Rise of Political Violence, Especially by Far-Left Organizations,” drawing attention to the growing threat posed by the radicalization of far-left groups in Europe. The urgent debate in Parliament was organized following the shocking events in France, where left-wing militias brutally beat an innocent student with conservative views to death, and one of those involved is an assistant to a left-wing French member of parliament.
In her speech, the MEP emphasized that the events that took place on the streets of Lyon should serve as a serious warning sign for all of Europe. “What left-wing militias did on the streets of Lyon is a warning to Europe. A student was brutally murdered simply for standing up for women who were opposing violence by migrants. The far left has blood on its hands,” said Jadwiga Wiśniewska.
The PiS MEP noted that this is not an isolated case, and numerous reports from organizations monitoring terrorism point to a growing problem of left-wing extremism in Europe. “Reports from counterterrorism organizations clearly show that left-wing extremism in Europe is a real, systemic, and growing problem. For the far left, it is common practice to dehumanize an opponent—as long as they are deemed a nationalist or a fascist. According to this twisted logic, it is acceptable to kill them,” she emphasized.
Jadwiga Wiśniewska also pointed out that similar phenomena can be observed in Poland as well.
“Leftist militias are attacking Catholic, nationalist, and right-wing activists,” she noted.
According to the MEP, the source of this phenomenon is tacit approval from parts of the political and opinion-forming elites.
“We must state clearly: left-wing violence did not come out of nowhere. It is the result of tacit acceptance by the political mainstream. Europe must wake up and end the conspiracy of silence surrounding far-left violence,” she appealed at the conclusion of her speech.
