In Strasbourg, during a plenary session of the European Parliament, a debate was held on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, focusing in particular on the need to release all hostages, establish a humanitarian ceasefire, and create prospects for a two-state solution. PiS MEP Joachim Brudziński spoke during the debate.
Joachim Brudziński emphasized that the European Union should call on Israel to comply with international law and international humanitarian law, to implement another sustained humanitarian pause in hostilities, as well as to increase essential humanitarian aid to the people of the Gaza Strip. “As the European Union, we must safeguard the two-state solution and try to revive the political process,” the MEP stated. He highlighted the “Peace Day Effort” initiative supported by regional Arab partners, whose active role is crucial for the future of the Gaza Strip, and noted that this is the best tool currently available.
The MEP stated that Israel’s maximalist goals, such as the annihilation of Hamas, are difficult to achieve in light of recent reports of multimillion-dollar funds transferred by Tel Aviv to Hamas.
Brudziński noted with concern that we will soon have to face the reality that nothing will remain in the Gaza Strip, and 2 million people will be pushed to the border with Egypt. He also pointed out that there is no discussion in Parliament about Putin, who has led to the escalation of this conflict and destabilized the Middle East.
