In Strasbourg, during a plenary session of the European Parliament, a debate took place titled “Winning the Global Technology Race: Fostering Innovation and Bridging the Funding Gap,” in which PiS MEP Kosma Złotowski spoke.
Kosma Złotowski emphasized that fostering innovation requires not only money but, above all, supportive laws and regulations that do not discourage investment and risk-taking. “Unfortunately, this is an area where the European Union consistently loses out to global competition,” stated the PiS politician.
Therefore, Złotowski argued, the deregulation announced by the Commission cannot be just an empty phrase or yet another slogan that is not backed by facts.
“Withdrawing the draft Directive on Civil Liability for Artificial Intelligence from further consideration would be the best proof of sincere intentions in this regard,” said the EP quaestor.
The PiS MEP emphasized that the European Union, in all areas—and especially in the economy—must move away from subordinating its policies to ideological goals. He explained that this applies to industry, transportation, and agriculture, as well as new technologies. “Only in this way can we get back on the path to development,” he noted.
