Today, during the European Parliament’s plenary session in Brussels, a discussion took place on the report regarding the work of the Committee on Petitions in 2023. PiS MEP Kosma Złotowski, coordinator of the ECR Group in the PETI Committee, spoke during the discussion.
“The Committee on Petitions plays a very important role in combating the democratic deficit in the European Union. This was true in 2023, and it remains true today,” emphasized the EP Quaestor.
He noted that it was also thanks to PETI’s efforts that effective pressure was brought to bear regarding the inclusion of Romania and Bulgaria in the Schengen Area.
Złotowski also spoke about the Committee on Petitions’ involvement in defending the rights of parents and children to education in Spanish in Catalonia. “References to the fact-finding mission on this matter, in which I participated, and the aggression we encountered on the ground must be duly reflected in this report,” said the PiS politician.
