Marlena Maląg asks about the new European Commission’s priorities in the area of family policy

A hearing was held at the European Parliament in Brussels for Roxana Mînzatu, the nominee for Commissioner for People, Skills, and Resilience. PiS MEP Marlena Maląg participated in the discussion.

“The title of your portfolio includes ‘people,’ and President von der Leyen listed intergenerational solidarity among your tasks, noted Marlena Maląg. In light of this, the MEP asked how Roxana Mînzatu intends to support families. “Many social problems, such as loneliness, exclusion, and mental health issues among young people, stem from the weakening role of the family, stated the Polish politician. She added that this is compounded by financial challenges, such as the rising cost of living caused by the European Union’s overly ambitious climate policy. “What measures do you plan to take to support families and strengthen intergenerational bonds, and to combat loneliness in old age?” asked the Member of the European Parliament. She also wanted to know how the candidate for Commissioner for People, Skills, and Readiness intends to collaborate in this area with the commissioner responsible for democracy and demography, given that strengthening the role of the family is undoubtedly a key element in countering negative demographic trends.
