Today in Strasbourg, during the European Parliament’s plenary session, a debate took place on a joint response to Russia’s recent violations of EU member states’ airspace and threats to critical infrastructure. Speaking on behalf of the ECR Group was PiS MEP Adam Bielan.
Adam Bielan said that Russia is making increasingly sophisticated attempts to exert pressure on Western countries. As he noted, recent weeks clearly demonstrate that the Kremlin’s aggressive policy knows no bounds—both literally and figuratively. “Violations of the airspace of Poland and other European Union member states, sabotage of critical infrastructure, including energy and telecommunications systems, as well as deliberate disinformation campaigns, demonstrate a complete disregard for international law,” – stated the MEP. According to Adam Bielan, this is a meticulously planned strategy to destabilize EU countries and intimidate their populations. “A sustained attack targeting the integrity and security of the entire free world. An attack that demands a firm and decisive response,” said the PiS politician, emphasizing that any attempt to undermine security must be met with an “immediate, coordinated response from the member states of the European Union and NATO.” “We will not tolerate any testing of our borders, our patience, or our solidarity,” the MEP stressed, recalling that in the past, disregarding even minor incidents has often led to great tragedies. He said that while Poland and other European Union member states, which have experienced the violence of Russian imperialism for decades, fully understand the importance of responding to provocations, unfortunately not all EU member states pursue policies in the spirit of a properly understood European interest. In this context, he mentioned the so-called “reset” with Russia, which in reality consists of economic and political dependence on Moscow and the sponsorship of anti-European projects such as Nord Stream. “These are milestones on the road to war,” warned the PiS MEP.
“When we see Russian drones flying over Berlin, Brussels, or Copenhagen today, let’s think about the billions of euros pumped into the East by Gerhard Schröder and Angela Merkel. Yes, that same Angela Merkel who is now clumsily trying to shirk responsibility, bizarrely insinuating improper involvement by countries contesting her misguided policies,” commented the PiS politician on the former German chancellor’s scandalous actions. He added that today the German government is also demanding the extradition of those responsible for destroying that shameful investment, the Nord Stream pipeline. “That is why I would like to remind Chancellor Merz that Ukraine is at war with Russia because it was invaded. The Ukrainians have every right to attack both Russian refineries and industrial and transmission networks, and it is our duty to support them, not punish them for it,” Adam Bielan admonished the German politician.
