Adam Bielan: “We must stand with Ukraine and provide the resources needed to end this horror”

In Strasbourg, during a plenary session of the European Parliament, a debate was held on the killing of prisoners of war and other war crimes still being committed by the Russian Federation. Adam Bielan spoke on behalf of the ECR Group during the discussion.

Speaking about the brutal war unleashed by the Putin regime, Adam Bielan emphasized that “the Ukrainian people and army are a shining example of courage and determination.” The PiS MEP cited the latest UN report, which clearly indicates that Russia is resorting to cruel methods of treating prisoners of war, in defiance of human rights and the Geneva Conventions. He also stated that “Putin’s madness affects everyone who opposes his tyrannical ambitions.” He mentioned Ukrainian soldier Igor Shyshko and U.S. citizen Stephen Hubbard, saying they are among the many victims of the Russian regime. Adam Bielan said that Russia is committing war crimes on a massive scale, such as systematic murders, torture, and the cruel treatment of prisoners of war. In this context, he referred to the events in Bucha and noted that there are many other examples of the Russian criminal machine that “must not fade from our memory, because otherwise they will be repeated—in Ukraine and in the European Union.”

The MEP argued: “We have the power to stop the war crimes committed by Russia. We must stand by our ally and provide the resources to end this horror,” he urged EU politicians to take action.
