Bogdan Rzońca: "It cannot be the case that greater centralization of the EU is the answer to all of the Commission's mistakes."

Bogdan Rzońca: "It cannot be the case that greater centralization of the EU is the answer to all of the Commission's mistakes."

A debate on the Court of Auditors’ 2023 annual report took place today in Strasbourg. PiS MEP Bogdan Rzońca participated in the discussion, which included ETO President Tony Murphy.

“We knew things were bad, but thanks to this very good report, we now know they’re even worse, stated the PiS MEP. Rzońca pointed to errors in the European Commission’s spending, specifically that the permissible 2% error rate was exceeded by 4%. “6 percent is a scandal! Managing funds this way could lead to complete bankruptcy, he emphasized.

He also addressed the issues mentioned in the report regarding errors in borrowing. “If it’s unclear whether the loan for the new recovery plan will cost 17 or 27 billion euros, that simply means the European Commission doesn’t want to share its mistakes with us, he stated. He also spoke of the uncertainty regarding how this “communitarized” loan—which “we were saddled with after taking out the loan”—will be repaid. “It cannot be the case that the response to all these mistakes by the Commission will be greater centralization of the European Union, because Ms. von der Leyen wants even more power and wants to rule on her own. We cannot allow that to happen, he emphasized.
