Anna Fotyga on EU-China Relations

Anna Fotyga on EU-China Relations

During the European Parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg, a debate took place on relations between the EU and China. PiS MEP Anna Fotyga took part in the discussion.

The Polish politician pointed out that China is a communist state that is constantly intensifying its aggressive, autocratic stance, both domestically and internationally. Addressing the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and referring to his remarks, Anna Fotyga emphasized that it is our perspective, interests, and point of view that should determine the Union’s policy toward China. “Perhaps describing China as a systemic rival reflects today’s reality, and the economic security strategy presented is sufficient. But unfortunately, given China’s constantly evolving aggressive policy, these measures may prove far from sufficient, and we will be forced to adjust our approach toward Beijing, noted the former head of Polish diplomacy.
