Anna Zalewska: "The European Union's green policy is a road to nowhere"

Anna Zalewska: "The European Union's green policy is a road to nowhere"

During today’s debate in the European Parliament on the report concerning the framework for achieving climate neutrality, PiS MEP Anna Zalewska emphasized that EU climate policy, rather than being based on sound analysis, focuses “on ideological beliefs.”

Zalewska criticized the European Commission’s actions, pointing to a lack of adequate understanding of and response to the Union’s real economic problems. “I have the overwhelming impression that President von der Leyen does not hear, does not listen, does not see, and does not even read the reports she herself commissions. Well, maybe two or three pages prepared by officials. It’s Europe’s economy that’s on fire, not the planet, the MEP stated.

She also addressed the issue of a global approach to climate change, citing a statement by Bill Gates, who, as she noted, had previously retracted his earlier prediction of a “climate catastrophe.” “Your green guru, Bill Gates, has just retracted the climate catastrophe and said unequivocally, ‘Fortunately for all of us, this vision is not true.’ He later added, ‘People will be able to live and thrive in most places on Earth for the foreseeable future,’" Anna Zalewska recalled.

The PiS MEP also expressed doubts about the feasibility of the European Union’s carbon dioxide emission reduction targets. “We know for certain that we will not achieve a 55 percent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by 2030. We need to break the thermometer, pretend there’s no fever, and say it’ll be 90 percent by 2040,” she noted.

Zalewska concluded her speech with a call for reflection and a return to reason, urging the European Commission to adopt a responsible approach to climate and economic issues that will not harm EU member states, particularly in the context of the energy crisis and rising energy prices.

“I call for a change of course. The European Union’s green policy is a road to nowhere that will ruin the European economy,” the MEP concluded.
