At the European Parliament in Strasbourg, one of the plenary session debates was devoted to the report on the situation regarding fundamental rights in the European Union in 2022 and 2023. ECR MEP Beata Kempa spoke during the discussion.
In Beata Kempa’s view, the 2022–2023 report on the situation regarding fundamental rights in the EU does not differ significantly from reports from previous years; it is derivative and incomplete. “The report makes no mention of those who are the silent victims of this so-called ‘policy of tolerance’—a life without any rules—and it makes no mention of Christians or the faithful of the Catholic Church,” she pointed out. The Polish politician said that a wave of attacks on the faithful, as well as on the Church, is currently sweeping across Europe. She added that churches and places of worship are being vandalized, and priests are being murdered in successive attacks. “The left-wing media, which condone attacks on churches and promote people who mock symbols sacred to Christians, have created an atmosphere of tacit approval for aggression, and this report contains no such information,” she noted. The MEP noted that in 2023 alone, there were 792 attacks in Europe on believers or places of worship. “This represents an increase of over 44 percent compared to last year—38 physical attacks on priests and believers, 105 arson attacks, and 516 acts of vandalism,” she said, citing only a portion of these statistics. “Why are you remaining silent?” Beata Kempa asked, noting that these figures were not included in the report.
