Today in Strasbourg, during the European Parliament’s final plenary session of this term, the conclusions from the most recent European Council meetings were discussed. During the debate, which included European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, PiS MEP Dominik Tarczyński took the floor.
The PiS MEP responded to the EC President’s remarks: “We’ve heard your beautiful vision, but we haven’t gotten much in the way of numbers. You mentioned youth unemployment. Let’s talk about the facts: Spain—28.4% youth unemployment, Sweden—21%, Italy—20.4%, Greece—17.4 percent, France—16.9 percent.” Tarczyński noted, however, that this problem does not affect Poland. “We left Poland in excellent shape,” emphasized the PiS MEP, recalling that during Donald Tusk’s time in office, Poland struggled with one of the highest unemployment rates. “Is that what you want to continue?” he asked.
The head of the Polish delegation in the ECR also commented on the issue of an ill-advised policy toward China, pointing out that imports from China cost the EU over 500 billion euros, while EU exports to China amount to only 230 billion euros. “At the same time, you’re reaching into Europeans’ pockets by forcing the Green Deal on them—even though Europe is responsible for only 7 percent of global pollution. This is madness,” he emphasized. According to Tarczyński, “this madness will be stopped after these elections.” “We will change these numbers, and you will lose these elections,” the politician stated.
Dominik Tarczyński referred to the Council’s conclusions, which state that “Europe must be safe for its residents.” “Madam President, it is your fault that Europe is not safe. Illegal migration and Germany’s open-door policy are the reasons why Europe is not safe,” — the politician noted, arguing that Germany’s security report indicates the country is facing the largest increase in crime in its history, reaching 6 million crimes per year.
“And you intend to continue this? This madness surrounding illegal migration and the Green Deal will come to an end after these elections. The Conservatives will make Europe great again,” he emphasized.
