PiS MEP Arkadiusz Mularczyk took part in a meeting preceding the 7th African Union–European Union Summit, during which parliamentarians from Europe and Africa discussed ways to strengthen political, economic, and security partnerships between the continents.
During the deliberations, the importance of democracy, the rule of law, human rights, and responsible governance as the foundations of lasting peace and development was emphasized. The need to deepen cooperation in the areas of security, youth support, education, infrastructure, trade, and raw materials was also highlighted.
MEP Mularczyk drew attention to the growing threat posed by Russia’s actions, both in Europe and in Africa. “The European Union, including Poland, must have a tangible presence in Africa. If we cede this region to Russian influence, we will pay a high price—both politically and economically. Cooperation with Africa is a matter of security and strategic interests,” he argued.
He also called for increasing the visibility of EU activities in Africa, supporting stabilization in conflict-affected regions—including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, and the Horn of Africa—as well as taking steps to ensure resource security and transparent supply chains.
The need to counter disinformation, support youth mobility, develop education, and strengthen infrastructure was also emphasized, as well as the institutional strengthening of the parliamentary dimension in AU–EU cooperation.
