Today in Strasbourg, during the ongoing plenary session of the European Parliament, a debate took place on the adoption of a proposal for a regulation on the recognition of a child’s parentage. PiS MEP Jadwiga Wiśniewska spoke during the discussion.
Jadwiga Wiśniewska stated that, according to Article 18 of the Polish Constitution, marriage is a union between a man and a woman, which means that same-sex “marriages” and same-sex parenthood are not recognized. She added that surrogacy, in turn, is illegal in most EU countries.
“Meanwhile, the European Commission, like a communist executive, is imposing rainbow ideology,” —the MEP noted, pointing out that the EC is once again “looking for ways to push through further privileges for same-sex couples, this time cynically exploiting the welfare of children.”
“But let’s not be fooled—mutual recognition of parenthood is not about defending children’s rights. It’s about pushing a rainbow ideology,” stated the Polish politician.
She explained that under Polish law, the mother is the woman who gave birth to the child, and the father is the man. “Surrogacy, on the other hand, is nothing more than building a system in which a child becomes the subject of a transaction. Do we really want a Europe where a child is treated like a product to be ordered?” Wiśniewska asked.
“Brussels will not dictate to us what a family is! It’s time to say ‘enough’ to rainbow ideology,” Wiśniewska appealed for reason, expressing her hope “that this bill will be blocked for as long as possible, and ideally withdrawn entirely.”
