PiS MEP Jadwiga Wiśniewska submitted a question to the European Commission regarding Poland’s exemption from the migrant relocation mechanism.
Jadwiga Wiśniewska points to the need to obtain clarification directly from the European Commission as to whether Prime Minister Tusk’s statement of February 7, 2025, is true, that “Poland will not implement the Migration Pact in a way that would result in additional numbers of immigrants in Poland,” and that his “argument was understood by the European Commission.”
MEP Wiśniewska points out that on March 10, EC Spokesperson Markus Lammert stated that “The Migration Pact is binding on all EU countries, and if a member state risks delaying the implementation of the provisions or even undermining the pact, the European Commission will have to take the necessary measures.”
The PiS MEP asks whether the European Commission has indeed accepted the Polish government’s arguments and whether Poland will be exempt from the migrant relocation mechanism set forth in Article 56(2) of the Regulation on the Management of Asylum and Migration (2024/1351). Furthermore, Wiśniewska wants to know what “necessary measures” the European Commission plans to take against countries that do not fully comply with the provisions of the Migration Pact.
