On the third day of the European Parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg, a debate took place on effective and orderly migration management, in particular through a new legal framework on returns. PiS MEP Jadwiga Wiśniewska spoke on behalf of the ECR Group during the discussion.
Jadwiga Wiśniewska stated that the EU’s migration policy has been and continues to be shaped under Germany’s dictates. She noted that the harmful migration pact will not solve the problem and is, in fact, a legalization of the illegal, criminal activities of human traffickers. “When it became clear that Germany’s open-door policy had borne poisoned fruit, Germany shifted the blame onto others. They have taken a particular liking to Poland, which may receive tens of thousands of illegal migrants from Germany in the coming months,” the MEP commented. “The nature of Germany’s return policy is best illustrated by the example of deporting dangerous criminals—child rapists, murderers, and knife-wielding assailants—back to Afghanistan. Each of them was given 1,000 euros by the German government, and that money will go directly to terrorists,” she added.
The MEP outlined what needs to be done to ensure effective and orderly migration management. Jadwiga Wiśniewska outlined the priorities: “We need to secure the EU’s external borders, secure EU funding for border barriers, a strong Frontex, and an effective return policy.”
“Enough with the charade! It’s time for a bold and responsible return policy. It’s time to regain control of our borders,” the Polish politician urged.
