A special event was held today at the European Parliament in Brussels to showcase the artistic achievements of young people from Kalisz and the beauty of Poland’s oldest city. On the initiative of Law and Justice MEP Marlena Maląg, a concert by the “Kopernik” Choir from High School No. 3 in Kalisz was presented, with the participation of the school’s principal, Dr. Grzegorz Wieczorek, and the exhibition “Kalisz – Write Your Own History” was opened. The Mayor of Kalisz, Krystian Kinastowski, also attended the event.
In her opening remarks, MEP Marlena Maląg emphasized the special significance of being able to showcase Kalisz’s culture in a place where the future of Europe is decided. “From the bottom of my heart, I welcome the Copernicus Choir and the instrumental ensemble, which are gracing our event today. We are gathering not only for a concert, but also for the opening of the beautiful exhibition ‘Kalisz – Add Your Story.’ We want to showcase the very best our region has to offer,” said Maląg.
The MEP highlighted Kalisz’s dynamic development and the cooperation that—as she emphasized—builds the city’s strength. “Kalisz is becoming more beautiful and thriving thanks to collaboration, and the mayor knows how to unite, not divide. Today’s event is also a great artistic celebration—a performance by young people full of passion and commitment, guided by wonderful mentors,” she noted.
The mayor of Kalisz, Krystian Kinastowski, expressed his pride in the presence of the young people and the opportunity to promote the city at the heart of European politics. “It is a great honor for us to be here today, representing our city in such an important place. We’ve brought an exhibition that showcases the beauty of Kalisz, but above all, we’ve brought the best we have—our talented youth. They are the best ambassadors for our city and for all of Poland,” he emphasized.
He also thanked Marlena Maląg for organizing the event: “I hope this is also a special day for you, Ms. Maląg—an opportunity to host here the residents of the region you love and for whom you have done so much.”
The “Kopernik” Choir’s concert was highly praised by the guests: Members of the European Parliament, employees of EU institutions, and representatives of Greater Poland. The young artists presented a diverse, high-quality repertoire, highlighting the potential and sensitivity of the younger generation. The exhibition accompanying the concert, “Kalisz – Add Your Story,” encourages visitors to rediscover the city through its history, culture, and modern, sustainable development.
