Kosma Złotowski: "Protecting our borders is not only about combating illegal migration, but also about ensuring the security of critical infrastructure and transportation routes in the Baltic Sea."

Today in Strasbourg, during the European Parliament’s plenary session, a debate took place on the topic of “Vulnerabilities in Critical Infrastructure and Hybrid Threats in the Baltic Sea.” PiS MEP Kosma Złotowski spoke during the discussion.

Kosma Złotowski stated that the greatest threat to all of Europe in the Baltic Sea—sponsored by Russia but built by Putin’s allies—was the Nord Stream pipeline. “Fortunately, that gas pipeline is now rusting at the bottom of the sea, but new threats are emerging in the region. We must fight them just as resolutely!” he emphasized.

The MEP noted that cutting telecommunications cables and the presence of a “shadow fleet” are elements of hybrid warfare, which began long before the war in Ukraine.

“We must realize that protecting our borders means not only countering illegal migration in the south and east, but also ensuring the security of critical infrastructure and transport routes in the Baltic Sea, Złotowski stressed.

The Polish politician also stressed that “this is not a regional problem, but a challenge for the entire European Union, one that must be met with decisive action, including in cooperation with NATO.”
