Kosma Złotowski: “Let’s not underestimate the threat from Russia; let’s strengthen our resilience and respond firmly.”

During the European Parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg, a debate took place on the serious threats to aviation and maritime transport resulting from interference with the global satellite navigation system. The discussion also focused on the urgent need to strengthen resilience against spoofing and jamming. PiS MEP Kosma Złotowski spoke on behalf of the ECR Group.

Kosma Złotowski noted that Poland has been raising the alarm for months about GPS signal disruptions over the Baltic Sea, the growing threat to shipping and civil aviation, including in the vicinity of Bydgoszcz, and the need to develop monitoring and defense systems.

“Moscow has violated my country’s airspace. Several dozen drones entered Polish territory, and some were shot down by the military, he said, referring to the recent events, which constitute yet another form of Russian aggression. The MEP congratulated the Polish military leadership and soldiers on their decisiveness and effectiveness.

“Russia is becoming increasingly brazen and aggressive, crossing new boundaries, the Polish politician said. He pointed out that these are no longer just cyberattacks, disinformation, or GPS jamming, but an open, physical threat to the security of the EU and NATO. “Let’s stand in solidarity, let’s not underestimate the threat, let’s strengthen our resilience, and let’s respond firmly, the Member of the European Parliament urged. He added that Russia understands only the language it itself uses to address the world.
