Małgorzata Gosiewska on the resurgence of anti-Semitism in Europe: "It is a disgrace for our continent"

During a plenary session of the European Parliament, a debate was held on the rise of antisemitism in Europe. Speaking on behalf of the ECR Group, PiS MEP Małgorzata Gosiewska addressed the discussion.

Małgorzata Gosiewska noted with concern that anti-Semitism is resurging in many European countries. “Hatred is appearing on the streets, and Jewish schools, synagogues, restaurants, and other public places must be guarded, she said. She emphasized that this is a disgrace for Europe.

The MEP clearly emphasized that the Jewish community in Poland lives safely today. She recalled its centuries-long presence in Poland and its significant contribution to shaping Polish tradition, culture, science, and the economy. She also noted that Poles—like the Jewish people—experienced the German genocide during World War II and know where hatred and contempt lead.

Gosiewska pointed out that contemporary antisemitism in Western Europe originates in the Middle East and stems from the phenomenon of illegal migration from Islamic countries, where “hatred of Jews is part of upbringing and ideology.” “Poland, which has prevented mass migration, remains a safe place, while you are the ones who have brought anti-Semitism into your own countries, the Polish politician noted. “Europe today does not need empty slogans, but the courage to defend its borders, values, and citizens,” she concluded.
