Today in Strasbourg, during the European Parliament’s plenary session, a debate was held on the European Social Fund+ (ESF+) and specific measures aimed at addressing strategic challenges. PiS MEP Marlena Maląg spoke during the discussion.
Marlena Maląg said that it is positive that the European Commission has finally begun to recognize the threat faced on a daily basis by regions bordering Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine; however, she expressed regret that this had come so late. “This recognition was lacking, especially when the Law and Justice government was effectively securing Poland’s eastern border—and thus that of the European Union—against illegal migration instigated by Lukashenko and Putin,” the Polish politician stated.
The ECR MEP expressed hope that proposals aimed at strengthening defense capabilities and supporting eastern regions would be implemented on time, and that the funds would be spent as intended.
“We will closely monitor this process to ensure that the ESF+, whose main objective is to support social integration and equal opportunities, does not become a source of controversy, and that the funds are used appropriately,” she cautioned.
