Piotr Müller: "The Green Deal policy limits Europe's development and independence"

Piotr Müller: "The Green Deal policy limits Europe's development and independence"

Today in Strasbourg, on the final day of the plenary session, discussions focused on the threats to EU sovereignty arising from strategic dependencies in communications infrastructure. Piotr Müller, a PiS MEP, spoke on behalf of the ECR Group.

The Polish politician emphasized that financial resources are needed to build infrastructure independence, including technological independence. He added that the European Union should decide how it wants to allocate these funds from its own budget, noting that there are three major policies being pursued simultaneously. “These are security policy—including technological security—social policy, which allows citizens to live at a sufficiently high standard of living, and, unfortunately, the Green Deal policy, which causes the cost of living to rise and generates various types of expenditures under this policy,” – Müller pointed out. The MEP emphasized that if the EU truly wants to be technologically independent, it should allocate additional funds to this area. “But for that to be possible, we must abandon one of the three policies I mentioned,” the politician said, adding that he was referring to the Green Deal policy, “which is currently limiting Europe’s development and independence.” “And secondly, we should stop taking offense at our technology partners from different continents around the world and work with them so that the right technologies can also be developed in Europe,” the MEP added.
