Piotr Müller on Censorship in the European Parliament

Piotr Müller on Censorship in the European Parliament

Today in Strasbourg, during the European Parliament’s plenary session, a debate took place on the status of efforts to implement the European Act on Media Freedom in the member states. Piotr Müller, a PiS MEP, spoke on behalf of his group.

The PiS MEP said that it would be worth examining how media freedom is respected within the European Parliament and by politicians of the European People’s Party. He recalled that Donald Tusk, one of the leaders of the EPP, does not allow journalists from the largest news station—Telewizja Republika—to attend the Polish prime minister’s press conferences.

Furthermore, as Müller noted, during yesterday’s debate on the motion to dismiss European Commission President von der Leyen, MEPs’ opportunities to speak and present arguments in support of the motion were severely restricted. “So I will take this opportunity to articulate these reasons: you are pursuing a dangerous migration policy; your climate policy is impoverishing society and threatening the quality of life; and the agreement with Mercosur, which you wanted to keep secret, will hurt Polish and European farmers, the PiS politician stated.
