She recalled that when work on the Fit for 55 package was underway during the previous term of the European Parliament, she warned MEPs on the ENVI Committee that this was yet another document “lining the pockets of the Chinese,” because the EU has neither rare earth metals nor the technology and is far behind, “as all possible, logical, and economic reports indicate.”
