During the European Parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg, a debate took place on the EU’s withdrawal from the Energy Charter Treaty. ECR MEP Beata Kempa spoke during the discussion.
Beata Kempa noted that millions of people in Europe are already feeling the effects of misguided energy policies and are paying out of their own pockets for the dreams of Eurocrats. “Starting in 2026, each of us will be affected by rising electricity prices. Our continent will stop developing, and Europe will fall behind China and the U.S.,” warned the MEP, emphasizing that this is the result of the ‘green madness’ imposed on member states by the European Commission. The Polish politician also pointed out that the Green Deal is stifling the European economy. “Investments in solar panels, heat pumps, or wind turbines amount to 90 percent of the money sent to China, because Chinese companies lead the way in these technologies,” Beata Kempa pointed out. “As if that weren’t enough, while we’re destroying our coal industry and closing mines, a new coal-fired power plant is being built every week in Asia,” she added. The MEP explained that the Green Deal will lead to poverty and unemployment, because instead of developing companies in Europe, “we will become assembly plants for Chinese manufacturers,” and instead of relying on raw materials available in Europe, we are becoming dependent on Chinese supplies. “And the pandemic has already shown just how much that hurts,” she stated.
“It’s time to change course; it’s time to give Europe back to its people. It’s time to stop the Green Deal and enjoy economic sovereignty, prosperity, and development,” the MEP urged. She also added: “We want to breathe clean air and live in an environmentally friendly environment, but the implementation of the Green Deal strategy must proceed slowly and in accordance with the rules, not under duress and at the expense of Europe’s residents.”
