Elzbieta Rafalska: “We must do everything we can to drastically reduce the number of accidents in the construction industry”

On the third day of the European Parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg, a debate took place on preventing fatal workplace accidents in light of the tragedy at a construction site in Florence. PiS MEP Elżbieta Rafalska spoke during the discussion.

Elżbieta Rafalska reported that the latest Eurostat report on workplace safety in 2023 identifies the industries that are the most dangerous. She noted that the worst statistics pertain to the construction industry, which accounts for 22.5 percent of all fatal accidents and over 12.9 percent of all other accidents. The PiS MEP also stated that the deaths of five workers at a construction site in Florence confirm this situation. “We must do everything possible to drastically reduce the number of accidents in the construction industry,” she urged.
