Ryszard Czarnecki on the Situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

A debate was held at the European Parliament in Strasbourg on the current situation in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, on the border with Rwanda. PiS MEP Ryszard Czarnecki spoke during the discussion.

Ryszard Czarnecki emphasized that this was an important debate because it addressed a country that ranks second in terms of land area and third in terms of population in Africa. “It is a key country for this continent and, at the same time, a country that faces a very difficult path to democracy; it is a country in conflict with some of its neighbors, stated the former Vice President of the European Parliament.

The Polish politician said that during his recent visit to the EU - ACP in Angola, he was able to see for himself that the country’s president is a politician who is credible to both sides of the conflict—Rwanda and the Congo—and can help in the negotiations. “After all, we must take the path of negotiation, added the MEP.
