On the third day of the European Parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg, a debate took place on EU funding through the LIFE program for entities engaged in lobbying activities within EU institutions and the need for transparency. The LIFE program is a European Union financial instrument for environmental and climate protection. PiS MEP Kosma Złotowski spoke during the discussion.
“The mechanism we are debating is a harmful and costly absurdity!”- stated Kosma Złotowski. He reported that the Commission is channeling funds to environmental organizations for lobbying within EU institutions in support of a green agenda that harms the European economy and drives jobs out of Europe.
“Brussels, much like the Ouroboros serpent, is constantly devouring its own tail. In this case, it is also devouring the well-being of citizens and their economic future,” the MEP commented. The Polish politician also wondered how one could speak of genuine cooperation and balance between institutions if the Commission, through lobbyists, environmentalists, and activists, exerts influence over the Parliament and member states. “The lack of access to information regarding how climate policy goals were formulated is the cardinal sin of the Green Deal,” stated the MEP. He added that it is now clear that even Donald Tusk believes the Green Deal’s premises are flawed and its costs enormous. “Every euro spent trying to convince people otherwise is a sheer waste!” the politician argued.
