Kosma Złotowski: “The future of the European Union depends on the success of the single market”

On the first day of the European Parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg, a debate took place on strengthening the single market to ensure a sustainable future and prosperity for all EU citizens. PiS MEP Kosma Złotowski spoke during the discussion.

Kosma Złotowski stated that the future of the European Union depends on the success of the single market. “This very good economic project is still far from ideal and limits the development potential of all member states. Finally, we can speak openly about this, he emphasized.

The MEP pointed out that companies—especially small and medium-sized ones—that wish to operate across borders in the services sector—such as transportation, construction, or e-commerce—face numerous barriers. “We must effectively combat already identified problems, such as geoblocking, gold-plating, and excessive and burdensome inspections, the Polish politician argued.

Złotowski emphasized that the European Green Deal is merely another such barrier to economic growth and also called for a revision of unrealistic climate targets in the areas of agriculture, the automotive industry, and transportation during this term of the Parliament and the Commission. “Let’s finally start deregulating, enabling SMEs to access foreign markets, and supporting innovation and digitalization,” the MEP urged. He argued that this would lead to increased employment and lower prices for goods and services for Europeans.
